Everything below is a real answer to a real question. If yours is not here, write to voice@uplifty.me and a person will read it.
Get in touch
Email voice@uplifty.me. Please say which iPhone and which iOS version you are on, and what you expected to happen. If it is about one note, the time you recorded it is usually enough for us to find the problem.
We answer within two working days.
Getting started
How do I capture a thought?
Tap the orb on the home screen and start speaking. Tap again when you are done. The note is transcribed, titled and saved for you.
What is one press capture?
You can start a capture without opening Uplifty Voice at all, by putting it on the Action Button or on a double tap of the back of your iPhone. The app walks you through it, and you can reach the walkthrough again from Settings. Both are optional and the app works fully without them.
Uplifty Voice asked for the microphone. Why?
Recording needs it, and iOS asks the first time you record. If you declined and want to change that, open the Settings app, find Uplifty Voice, and turn Microphone back on. Speech recognition is asked for separately, and only if you switch to the on device engine.
Transcription
What are the two engines?
By default, Uplifty Voice uses Uplifty transcription, which runs in the cloud and returns your words the way you said them. You can switch to iOS native speech to text in Settings, which runs entirely on your iPhone, works with no signal, and handles one language at a time.
How do I keep everything on my phone?
Settings has a switch called Keep everything on this phone. With it on, nothing uploads and nothing is backed up, transcription runs on device, and analytics are turned off at the same time. Your notes live on that iPhone only, so if you lose the phone the notes go with it.
The transcript got something wrong.
Rate it from 1 to 7 on the note. Those ratings are how we find out where transcription needs work. You can also edit any transcript directly, and add words the app should recognise under Settings and then Dictionary.
Uplifty minutes and Plus
What are Uplifty minutes?
They are minutes of cloud transcription. You start with 30, and you have 130 once you add an email. They do not expire and there is no monthly clock on them. On device transcription never uses them and has no limit.
What does Plus add?
Plus is 300 Uplifty minutes every month, refilled on your renewal date, and recordings of up to 20 minutes instead of 10. Everything else, including backup, export, labels, archive and on device transcription, is free and needs no purchase.
What happens when I run out of minutes?
Nothing is lost. The capture still records and the note still saves, transcribed on your iPhone with the on device engine.
How do I cancel Plus?
Plus is billed through your Apple Account, so it is cancelled the same way as any other subscription: open the Settings app, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Uplifty Voice, then Cancel Subscription. Access continues until the end of the period you already paid for.
I paid before and Plus is not showing.
Tap Restore purchases, on the Account screen or at the bottom of the Plans screen. If nothing is found, check that you are signed in to the same Apple Account you subscribed with.
Your notes
Do I need an account?
No. You can start capturing straight away. Your notes are private to an anonymous account created on your device.
Why would I add an email?
An email is how you open your account on another phone, or how you get back in if this one goes missing. It also raises your starting minutes to 130.
How do I get my notes out?
Account, then Export my notes. You can take everything out as text, CSV or JSON, either all of your notes or only the ones you have not archived.
How do I delete my account?
Account, then Delete account. It removes your notes and your account from our systems. The app offers to export everything first.
Privacy
The full policy is at uplifty.me/voice/privacy.html. The short version: your notes are yours, we do not sell data, we do not show ads, and we do not build a profile of you.
